The Regional Account Manager will be responsible for selling products and services into new and existing customer base.  This role will apply principles of solution selling: determine customer needs, propose appropriate product and service solutions, and manage the sales process through to close.  The Regional Account Manager  is considered our “eyes and ears” physically meeting with Walker and Associates, Inc. customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Organizational Requirements

  • Retire quota.
  • Sell multi-branded solutions including professional services.
  • Plan first month’s firm itinerary and second month tentative; updated Weekly in MS-Outlook Calendar.
  • Submit expense reports on a weekly basis.
  • Call reports must be submitted in CRM at the end of each work week.  Information needs to be specific and action item oriented.
  • High volume of on-site sales calls expected
  • 75% travel in territory
  • Maintain customer prioritization engagement expectations
  • Maintain company values and ethical standards

Planning & Execution Requirements

  • Provide territory data for company forecast procedures
  • Develop Call Rotation Plan
  • Create and execute Key Account Plans for priority customers.
  • Work closely with Field Systems Engineers, Inside Sales Executives, OEM Development Manager and Operations Staff.
  • Responsibility for margin improvement and annual territory growth
  • Manage your territory; manage your business
  • Collaborative New Business Development with OEM partners
  • Manage prioritization through a daily multi-tasking effort
  • Proficient calling on all levels of a customer organization from technical to GMs and C-Level
  • Meet or exceed quota and strategic performance objectives
  • Meet all “Organizational Requirements” listed above

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience and Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of Service Provider, Utility and MSO networks.
  • Proficient level of competency with Microsoft Desktop Applications and CRM
  • Three to five Years Telecommunications industry sales experience.
  • Demonstrated strategic territory and account management skills.
  • Knowledge of the equipment used in Service Provider, Utility and MSO Networks, including inside/outside plant, fiber connectivity, Layer 3 networking, Carrier Ethernet and optical transport.
  • Understanding of Packet and IP network applications
  • Familiarity and demonstrable knowledge of the OSI 7-Layer Standards Model
  • Existing Industry contacts, including territory customer contacts preferred.
  • Telecommunications Network Engineering, Operations or Technical experience a plus.
  • Channel Sales experience a plus.
  • Experience in Selling Professional and Value Added Services and Solutions
  • Presentation and negotiation skills required.
  • Four-year degree preferred.
